AUSTIN -- The University of Texas-Pan American men’s cross country team finished a strong third at the University of Texas Invitational Saturday afternoon Austin.

It took a little while for the first Bronc to cross the finish line, but once Julio Aguilar crossed he led a parade of Broncs.  All five Bronc runners finished within 33 seconds of each other.  Aguilar finished 16th in 22:22 for the four mile race.  He was closely followed by Israel Arroyo, who finished 17th in 22:25.  After that Eddie Aguilar took 19th place and Adrian Palacios was 20th, with both runners finishing in 22:46.  Daniel Salazar was close behind, taking 22nd in 22:55.  Texas ran away with the team title, sweeping five of the first eight spots to finish with 22 points.  Southwest Texas State was second with 43 points, UTPA was third with 94, UT-San Antonio was fourth with 101 and Praire View A&M State was fifth with 111.

The cross country team will return to action on September 25 in the Baylor Invitational Cross Country meet in Waco, Texas.
