For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 17, 2001 KSOX TO BROADCAST WEEKLY UTPA
BASKETBALL COACHES’ SHOWS EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American Department of Athletics has taken another first step. For the first time, AM 1240-KSOX Monster Sports Radio will broadcast weekly men’s and women’s basketball coach’s shows. This will be the second year that KSOX will
broadcast a UTPA men’s basketball coaches’ show, with Head Coach Bob
Hoffman. It is the first year that a Lady Bronc basketball coaches’
show with Head Coach Karin Nicholls will also be broadcast. The men’s show, which is called the UTPA Circle K
Coaches’ Show, runs weekly on Fridays at 11:30 a.m. and begins on
November 2nd. The women’s show will be broadcast each week
on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. and will start November 1st. Both shows will be
hosted by KSOX Sports Director Jeff Koch. Koch was pleased with the development. “The
coaches’ show is a great way for the fans to get up-to-the-minute news
on what is going on in the Broncs’ and Lady Broncs’ programs,”
said Koch. “The scouting report on upcoming games, along with the
player updates, is my favorite part of the show. I look forward to
spending time with Coach Hoffman and Coach Nicholls throughout the
season.” “It’s an honor to be on KSOX with Jeff Koch,
and have the opportunity to discuss strategies about our basketball
program,” said Hoffman. “His expertise and knowledge, especially
traveling with the team, should give fans an inside look into Bronc
basketball. We’d like to thank all our sponsors in the valley who make
this show possible.” “I’m excited about the opportunity to showcase
our team each week,” said Nicholls. “This will give us a chance to
get out to the valley what we’ve done in the past week, and what’s
coming up, and, hopefully, will help us with our attendance this
season.” The Lady Broncs’ first game is an exhibition game against the Houston Jaguars on Friday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. The Broncs will open their season when they host Monterrey Tech in an exhibition game Tuesday evening, November 6th at 7:30 p.m. GE-04-01 101701
