UTSA Takes Both Games Against Broncs

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The University of Texas-Pan American dropped a doubleheader to UT-San Antonio falling 6-5 and 10-8.  After a short teat where the Broncs won six of eight games, UTPA (11-35) has lost five in a row.  The UTSA Roadrunners (29-27) swept the season series with UTPA winning all seven games.

Although the Broncs outhit the Roadrunners, UTPA stranded 11 runners on base during the first game.  Junior pitcher, Ed Marko (3-5) took the loss for the Broncs in game one.  In the second game, the Broncs led by a count of 8-3 entering the 6th inning off homers from both Jerrimy Pantohan, Matt Kutac and Caleb Schmidt.  However, UTSA answered with 7 runs in the last three innings to register a 10-8 win.  Senior pitcher, Levi Frary (0-1) took the loss. 

UTPA will host a three-game series with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi starting with a doubleheader at 4:00pm on Saturday and a single game on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The UTPA Athletic Department will be paying a special tribute to the memory of Jody Ramsey as the Broncs will be playing their home series at Jody Ramsey Stadium this weekend.  A special pre-game presentation is scheduled for Saturday.
