UT Pan American Men’s Basketball Player Reggie Kuzet Named to National Dean’s List

EDINBURG – University of Texas-Pan American men’s basketball player Radovan “Reggie” Kuzet was named to the prestigious National Dean’s List for the academic year of 1999-2000 for his work in the classroom, it was announced Thursday.

Kuzet, a rising senior from Zadar, Croatia, received the honor, one bestowed on just ½ of 1% of all college students in the United States, athletes and non-athletes alike.  In addition to earning the recognition, Kuzet is also eligible for a $1,000 scholarship from The National Dean’s List as well.

"Reggie is an outstanding recipient of this prestigious award,” said UTPA Academic Coordinator Chris Uchacz.  “He is a true scholar-athlete who is proof that student-athletes can excel both in the classroom and in the athletic arena.  The entire UTPA Athletics Department is very proud of Reggie's many academic successes as he moves closer to earning an Engineering degree here at UTPA".

Awards of this nature are nothing new to Kuzet, who was selected as an All-American scholar earlier this year.  He was selected to participate in the fourth annual NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference, which was held last month at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Only 352 student-athletes from around the nation were invited to the Conference.  In addition, he is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, the Dean’s List at UTPA and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Kuzet, a 6-11, center on the UTPA men’s basketball team, helped the Broncs to a 12-16 record during the 1999-2000 season, the team’s best record in six years.
