Release: Monday, May 10, 2002 UTPA NAMES CRAIG PINTENS ATHLETIC MARKETING COORDINATOR
Craig Pintens, who has served as a marketing assistant at Marquette University for the past school year, will join the Texas-Pan American staff September 1st. “We are pleased to announce the hiring of Craig Pintens as our Athletic Marketing Coordinator,” said UTPA Director of Athletics William J. Weidner. “”Craig’s well-rounded athletic marketing experience at Marquette University will serve him well at UTPA. His strong organizational skills, diverse background and enthusiastic approach make him an ideal fit for our progressive athletic program. We enthusiastically welcome Craig and his wife, Jill to UTPA as the newest members of our Bronc and Lady Bronc family.” A native of West Bend, Wisconsin, where he played baseball and basketball, Pintens went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Marketing at Wisconsin-Whitewater. After graduating, Pintens earned a Juris Doctor degree at the Marquette University School of Law. While attending law school, he served an internship at his alma mater, writing and developing a handbook for student-athletes at Wisconsin-Whitewater. He also assisted with sales, promotions and marketing with the Beloit Snappers baseball club of the Midwest League, served as a legal intern with the Milwaukee Brewers, worked with the Milwaukee Rampage soccer club and the Milwaukee Public Schools Athletic Department, and served as a research assistant at the National Sports Law Institute After graduating from Marquette, Pintens became a marketing assistant for the athletic department at Marquette. He assisted in planning for several events that the Golden Eagles hosted, including the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Mideast Regional Tournament, the Conference USA Women’s Soccer Tournament, and NCAA first and second round women’s soccer playoff matches. He also coordinated event promotions, served as director of the Golden Eagle Kids’ Club, and worked with the MU women’s basketball team in launching the Golden Eagle Reading Club, a program designed to increase reading awareness in the Milwaukee Public Schools. Pintens is a member of the Wisconsin Bar, as well as the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators. “I’m excited to join the UTPA family,” said Pintens. “Mr.Weidner operates a first class athletic department. I’m thrilled about the direction in which the department is headed, and want to continue to help build it. I am looking forward to working with the entire Rio Grande Valley to increase the visibility of the wonderful things that are happening at UTPA.” Pintens is married.
