Roberto Garza has played in the NFL for 12 years and is currently a captain on the Chicago Bears football team. Garza, raised in Rio Hondo, Texas by migrant parents, set his sights at an early age on excelling in athletics by playing football and participating in track & field in high school. Education has always been a priority for Garza and his hard work paid off when he received a scholarship at Texas A&M University Kingsville where he would go on to become a talented and sought after football player with the Javelinas. His accolades also include All-American in track & field and National Champion in shot-put on a collegiate level. In 2001, Garza was drafted in the 4th round by the Atlanta Falcons. He played with the Atlanta Falcons from 2001-2004 and the Chicago Bears from 2005- current. In 2006, Garza played in the Super Bowl. This year he was named the "Bear of the Year" for his community involvement in Chicago. Garza, is also committed to giving back to the youth of the Rio Grande Valley and every year hosts a youth football camp in his hometown.
